The Marcon Cutlass is known for being a strongly built, oceangoing yacht with many ocean voyages achieved, including to Australia. Her long keel and protected rudder and propellor help ensure her safety at sea.
I have no experience of other Cutlasses, but Prime Suspect is fast and comfortable.
The boat is, of course, 40 years old. It would be wrong to expect an 'as new' condition boat. If I was keeping her I would probably remove and rebed the windows, however, there is no urgent need to do anything. She is in a 'sail-away' condition and ready to cross an ocean if wanted.
The 'doghouse' built over the main hatch makes a superb shelter for watch keeping and keeping rain and spray out of the cabin. However, it could easily be removed if required to, say, fit a sprayhood.
This year I sailed P.S. in the singlehanded Jester Challenge to Baltimore in Ireland, and back to Emsworth non-stop; an experience I would not have missed under any circumstances. We had both rough weather (particularly during the delivery to Plymouth), calms and fog. P.S. was one of the first boats into Baltimore. At no time did I have any concern for the boat.
She is being sold in order to buy larger (and probably change to bilge keels to do some ditch crawling!).
Don't hesitate to call me to ask any questions you may have.
